artiq x The Pump House Residency 2026
We're excited to announce that Emmanuel Unaji is the winner of this year's Artiq × The Pump House Residency
Each year, the residency invites one artist from our network to spend a week at @thepumphouseartstudio in rural Nottinghamshire, offering time and space to experiment, research and develop new work.
Working across wellbeing, performance and fine art Emmanuel has developed a signature split portraiture style that draws on the Johari window framework to explore what is known and unknown between subject and viewer.
During his residency, Emmanuel will turn his attention to The Pump House and its surroundings, creating mixed-media studies inspired by the building's architecture, interior details, landscapes and the nearby Idle Valley Nature Reserve.
Drawing on photography, collage, painting and printmaking, his work will bring these environments into dialogue with cultural icons and imagery from seminal 1950s publications.
